Xiao is a third-year doctoral candidate from St Cross College and he focuses his research on charge transport mechanisms in metal sulfide photoanodes for solar energy applications. Before commencing his studies at Oxford, Xiao conducted extensive research on Cu(In,Ga)Se₂ (CIGS) thin-film solar cells at Tsinghua University. In his leisure time, Xiao enjoys unwinding through cooking and light reading.
